It's totally up to the dealer. I think Audi may require them to provide alternate transportation, but that can be a shuttle to/from work. Luckily, my dealer provides a loaner even though I didn't buy the car from them even if it's usually a 2.sloooowww Jetta.

My dealer goes through Enterprise Rentacar so it is a "crap" shoot on what I get.
I know of dealers who are hungry for business and will offer the car to people who bring over their car for service. It is all in the hopes of a repeat purchase.

....regardless where the car was purchased.
I get one (for now, under warranty only) because I made a (rather unpleasant) scene. But at 4 yrs, I will have to pay for one or go somewhere else.
I just can't miss work for 2-3 days to fix one minor problem or have a service done. Just can't be done. I'm on my 3rd 20K service this Friday.
