Default Craftsman Jack recall..>>

Picked this up over on the Vette forum for any of you that have this... Those guys are a lot more **** and send in things like warranty cards...:-)

"Yesterday I received a letter from Sears stating that their 1 1/2 ton Aluminum Jack with LED lights Model 50242 or 875.50242 has been recalled. This jack was sold between April and October of 2007. The model number is on the upper right corner of the label. The jack can break in the lifted position if you over tighten the handle, causing you to have to figure out another means of lowering the car. You can call 1-800-659-7026 for more info."

Default I didn't buy the ghetto LED version, but I've had 2 of those POS jacks fail on me. I took a Snap-on

compound hammer to the last one... pretty much destroyed it... removed the handle (my $199.00 cheater bar)... and marched what was left into my local Sears store.

I told the zit farmer at the register that I knew he didn't build the jack himself, but that it was the biggest piece of $h!t that I'd ever owned and that he could send it back to their Sears/China representative and have him shove it in his A$$. All with a smile on my face. I think the other customers really enjoyed it, and the kid said I made his day. I even took in a copy of the comment pages from THEIR OWN website that rated the jack at 1.7 out of 5. He was humored by that as well. If you want a laugh, read some of the reviews on this POS... (I couldn't figure out how to drop 2 links in here so I'll post it separate post)

For those that don't wanna spend a ton of $$$ on a garage jack, the one pictured at the top/middle made by American Forge and Foundry is a pretty nice piece for the money level. I was going to buy a Brunnhoezl, but 900 bucks for a floor jack seemed excessive. Picked up one of the American Forge and Foundry jacks for 200 shipped on sale, and love it. VERY low, long reach, works excellent on lowered cars. PSA FWIW.

T ool Topia...
