Default crap. the car isn't starting...left it at work

i couldn't get the tt to start today after work. When i turn the key, i get the cranking as if it's gonna start....but it never actually starts. It just keeps cranking on and on. Once in a while, i hear a zapping sound.

I tried getting the battery jumped, and it accomplished nothing. Still the same sound....with no starting.

the gas gauge reads more than half a tank, and i'm assuming there is gas in the tank...but do you think it's possible the gas gauge would be wrong, even when it's showing slightly more than half a tank? i couldn't try it earlier, because i didn't have access to a gas canister and station...

what else could this be? i guess i'll have to try the gas thing in the morning anyway, just to be sure. The car is about 15 miles away right now, so i can't try it now...but if it isn't, then the car is gonna be towed to the dealer tomorrow

i just need a differential diagnosis from you guys? what else could this be? i'm REALLY hoping for something mild and benign. But i have a feeling it may not be...

Default battery, out of gas, ecu, engine speed sensor, timing belt. Probably the battery tho

Mine took a few tries to jump start it when the battery died.
