Dammit. Just came home to a voicemail from my Audi dealer. Those sons-a-biTTches . . .

scraped my rear bumper during "service." They gave assurances that their body shop is "really good." What a load of crap. I'm pissed. Not only that, but they've had the car for a week (semi-understandable given the week the Country's had) to fix several broken parts courtesy of the last moronic dealer I took the car to.
I've had this car since June 2000, and have only 5,200 miles on the odometer. I've babied this car to no end, with the thought that I'd never put it in the position of needing paintwork. Since I home office, this car has spent 95%+ of its life covered in my garage. Washed weekly. Perfect, until now.
Has anyone actually had satisfactory paintwork performed? How about in the SF Bay Area?
By the way, if you've had a similar experience, please chime in. I am consistently disappointed with Audi's dealer network, and I've reached my limit. Audi, you can make a nice car but you haven't a clue about your dealer network.

for similar BS? There is loss of value to me here, as a repaint is never as good (or pliable) as factory paint. The only mark on this car is a small rock chip on the windshield--that's it. No scuffed wheel, no swirl marks (if you knew my cleaning process, you'd know why!) . . . nothing. I don't even park in parking lots (if you can imagine that!).

Spot painting doesn't work very well. My paint man insisted on painting the entire rear. The bumper/rear comes off in a single wraparound piece. I had it painted and baked in a special booth like the factory. This was done by Niello Collision Repair in Sacramento. I have followed the manager, Ray Heitzman, from body shop to body shop and used him for years.

Had my 225QR one week today. The Bose radio does not light at night. Gas guage erratic, often dead. I knew up front that the Local dealer was crappy, but also knew that the dealership is being sold to a reputable company (Soon I hope). SO I drove 100 miles to the a neighboring city to buy last weekend. Course I'm in love at this moment...but having had a Mercedes before with NO SERVICE needed other than maintenance, I'm already LESS than impressed with Audi.

Or, if there is any type of break or gouge in the bumper cover, insist that it be replaced with a new one. Bondo does not adhere well on flexible bumper covers and will eventually fail.
This should be a pretty simple paint job for a good shop. Just insist they do it right. And if they don't, insist it be redone until it is done correctly.
You have the benefit of having natural body lines to "cover and camouflage" any slight possibility of off-color match, since the line/contour breaks will provide you invisible repair if the paint and clear are smooth.
Good luck.
