Deal on 02 225TTR- Good, bad, or ugly?
A local dealer near a major east coast city has two 2002 225TTR demo cars for sale. Both are >1000 miles, lake silver/black top, punched back in Nov. 02 and now certified so warranty coverage lasts for about 5 years.
Both cars are listing near $36,500. Of course he sez this is a "great price" for a 5-6k discount off new car price. What is depreciation picture like here?
TIA,
-cwk.

FWD, or Quattro, ill assume q - not bad, but 04s are out so this would be a great price on an 03
remember when/if you plan to sell the car, it will have less value than an 03 as well.
These cars are two years old and were demo models.

Carsdirect is quoting a price of $2000 under invoice for 2003 180hp Coupe it's only $28,378 brand new and the 225hp Quattro Coupe $31,760.
You should be able to get a 2003 demo for 3k-4k under invoice, just go to the dealer with the invoice pricing that you could get anywhere on the net and start dealing, they want to sell 2003s the 2004s are already on the lots.

It's not bad, but you can probably do better. On a demo...
Those first 1,000 miles were probably pretty hard ones, which may or may not make a difference. Most seem to believe that one should baby the engine in the first 1,000. However, there is a minority school of thought that believes you should actually drive it hard during break-in.
While I do generally baby the engine initially, the best running and most reliable car I ever owned was driven very hard during the break-in period, so who knows for sure?

****Ty deal....they should be selling new leftover 2003 cars for those prices
$31k or so would be a good deal, $29k would be a screaming deal. Just remember, it has *two model years* worth of depreciation, irrespective of mileage.
