Default Dealer taped the socket to my ECU!!

Had the car in for my last service before factory warranty expires. (2 more years of Audi Assured though.) Got my car back, was about to swap the ECU back to my GIAC. SURPRISE!!!! Found the ECU to be pulled out a bit (must have at least looked at it, if not replaced it) and the tech put packing tape around it and drew a line on it with a marker.

Don't know if they suspected something during the service, and wants to discourage me from breaking the seal... Still pondering whether I should risk loosing my Audi Assured by swapping in the GIAC - which I HAVEN'T found to give me the night and day difference which others have claimed... (I don't have a sensitive butt-dyno?) I might sell the spare ECU and chip (2000 180QC) and spend the money elsewhere (exhaust??), then just chip the stock ECU with APR after my extended warranty's over in 2 years.

Default just get the same packing tape, to replace it when you have to swap out your ecu

take a picture of it to make sure you get it pretty close to the way the dealer did it.

Where are you located? Also, why the heck did they do that? If you are afraid they swapped it, open the ecu. You'll see GIAC's chip in there.

Default That is bull****...I would just cut it off and swap it out like normal.

If you go back to stock when you go back to the dealer next, just do the tape job yourself and tell them you have no idea what the hell they are talking about if you ask. "What's an EEE SEE EWE???"

Default I would call Audi and complain

Sh*t swap it out screw them. I would even call them on it and ask why they did it.

Where are you located?

I'd consider looking for another dealer. Doesn't sound like they're customer friendly.

If they didn't tell you about it..then say you removed it when detailing the engine.

Default Just remove the tape and put the chipped ECU into the car

Let the dealer prove beyond a reasonable doubt that not only was the tape there, but that YOU removed it!

Stupid ******* dealers . . .
