The TT is not designed to sell 50,000 units in the United States alone. It is a niche car designed for a select few who appreciate it.

I'm sorry but I have designed car exteriors for General Motors for 6 years now and take SERIOUS offense to some of the comments made by people in this forum. I assume that we are all adults here and should conduct ourselves accordingly. Having said that I must confess that the TT although being technologically advanced from a manufacturing standpoint is at its core a 20 year old golf. Its actually amazing what the designers got away with using this ancient platform. But nonetheless the stale asthetic of the car is driven by this fact. Its really an insult to the porsche 356. Another designer here notes it looks in front view alot like snoopy! Look at it, it does! I know I will get plenty of replies from those of you who own a TT and I may be wrong, but 5 years of Industrial Design school (Art Center if you must know) tells me otherwise. And to the guy who wants to challenge a REAL designer to a sketch dual- I mean come on- get a life.

I'm not an automotive designer, but I am a graphic artist, and in response to your post I can only say that 1) the TT is the most beautiful car I've ever seen that I could afford to own, and that 2) what most of us learned in design school is bulls**t, starting with terms such as 'static' and 'visual dynamics.'
What amazes me is that so many well-trained and well-intentioned automotive designers can produce so many silly, predictable designs.
With 24 years under your belt, what production car designs are you responsible for?
