Did the flap thing... not it...

Put the car up and it was really easy... unhooked the arm on the flapper and wired it open. It was right where Steve said it was on the exhaust. Took it for a drive and still hear the fluttering tinty sound when reaching high rpms... then after I am able to maintain a high rpm the sound goes away. It's not there at low rpms either. Maybe it's just the normal sound of the TT... I don't know.

That may be the ultimate decision, but I hate trusting any dealer. I was hoping I could get an answer from of the motorhead experts here and try to narrow down the problem.

the ownership of a TT includes service and inevitably the car will have problems beyond the scope of this forum and beyond the scope of your technical ability. The dealer is equipped to handle those problems. You should go in and talk to the service manager and start to develop a relationship. It will be well worth it.

If it is the engine bay, then it is the intake manifodl shifter rod that switches around 4K rpms to shorter runners. Common flutter issue on MK4 VRs ... my dealer replaced my manifold on my GTI VR a couple of years ago after going through 2 new shofter rods.
Def recommend a dealer for this one.

It doesn't happen while standing still and reving the engine. It only happens when the car is moving. I don't hear it at high speeds or when I am up to speed and just reving it or spiking it. It seems o only sound like that when I want to go from 20 to 40 real fast in 2nd or 3rd. And it definitely sounds like it is coming from the exhaust not under the hood.
