87/88/ early 89...>
Remain the most desirable of the early generation air cooled 911's....Improved transmission and Hydraulic clutch were the biggest refinements for that period..Pretty bulletproof cars..
Sorry about the "period" Fittipaldi wheels...:-)
Sold this'88 in '99 for $30K...same thing I paid for it..

I owe my wife a convertible and it has to be a 1970 or 1988. She wanted an '88 325ic but I
have to maintain it and don't really want to go down that road. I was pushing for a 1970 Beetle because they are so easy to restore, modify and maintain as well as cheap.
She countered with a Saab 900 Turbo. Love the car but *really* don't want to maintain that.
I was purposely NOT mentioning Porsche because she knows that i have always wanted one and my suggesting it would be sham, really.
So, she finally brings it up. I tell her of all the expensive to restore/maintain cars, that has to be at the top of the list, but it's one I'd be willing to feel the pain for Of course she reminds me that it won't be mine and I'll never get to drive it, lol.
Anyway, a 1988 911 Cabriolet, non-turbo, in decent shape and 100K or more miles is 20K or more. Ugh..
I should throw a Porsche motor in a Beetle Convertible. There's a compromise.
