when the MAF went bad before, did you reset the ECU???
When a MAF goes bad and generates errors....some can stay in the master memory table till cleared or driven enough miles....the 1.8t is weird that way....

switch back to the old one. clear codes, then put in the new one....any ideas here...its been a while with no boost...makes me appreciate it when i have it though.

why did you switch to the old one? That could have recreated/repopulated the table with bad values again.....once the new one goes in...leave it there....

you may get lucky and it does not reset when you disconnect the battery....mine did not require a code...but, i would rather be safe then sorry...
