Default Jenner, 180 with no honk...the surginess seems to come and go based on driver habits...

could it be the ecu is constantly learning? After Nancy drives TTNancy for the week and I get in, it's got surginess...after the weekend, she's smooth as silk (almost). 14K+ miles, coupe ser#307

Default Maybe, but that scenario doesn't work for me because I am the only driver....What is #307?

Default No problems with my "anvil" 180 at 7K miles, but.....

I got the "goose honk" on my 225 the minute it left the lot (and the dreaded rattle when backing off the throttle quickly).

For me, the installation of the Bailey has:

1) eliminated the "goose honk" (minor irritation)
2) eliminated the "off throttle" rattle, and
3) most surprising made the driveability when pulling from low revs in 1st and 2nd gear MUCH better. I didn't realize how much my car surged until I made the change.

Do I think everyone has problems with the dv? No.
Do I think the evidence is that the dvs are prone to failure, particularly with the 225 motor? Yes.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/keyfob.jpg">

Default The diverter in my 1994 A4 1.8t is/was different from my 225ttr

I replace the TT valve since it was making such a horrid sound. I changed the A4 since my dealer's 2001 A4 was making the sound even though I never really heard it myself but wanted to be safe.

Looking at them, I THINK that the stock A4 valve is Better then the stock TT valve. It just felt like the part that sealed off the pressure from the feedback pipe was stiffer and more firmly seated. Perhaps why that car was quieter (or the fact the part is low down vs up at the dash) or because the newer part is of lesser quality. Who knows, but food for thought for some early owners seeming to not have the problem...

Default Ok, lets take this one step further....

You had the honk with a 225 DV from day one, I with my 180, didn't. I have a K04 in my car now running higher boost than your 225, and I don't have the honk, so we could say the 225 has a different part from the 180?

Also, based on what you've said above, I could drop the Bailey in, and I will notice smoother boost/acceleration etc. And believe me I will comment on this if I do/don't!

Sooo, the question is, why don't I have the honk?.... <p>-Jenner

Default My theory is that the inherent differences in the production process...

mean some fail early, some late and some not at all.

Not very satisfactory, I know, but I'm sure in your experience you've encountered two apparently identical devices: one works fine, the other has problems.

Just my 2 c.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/keyfob.jpg">
