... DAMN! It's actually fun!
Had a TT 3.2, BMW M3 SMG II and a Golf 1.8T (A4) with DSG (not currently a production arrangement). Some far from objective observations:
1. The VR6 in the TT sounds great! The throttle response is very crisp.
2. In both the TT and the Golf, the DSG shifts at WOT are amazingly fast, maybe faster than the SMG II in S6 mode. At least they subjectively feel faster.
3. Lollygagging around town with a fair bit of part-throttle, high-load driving, the shifts were very smooth and tough to distinguish from a planetary automatic with torque converter.
4. The shifter in the TT sucks! It looks to be the same bits from the 180 FF auto TT. On the other hand...
5. ...the paddle shifters on the column work like a champ.
6. Unlike the SMG II car where engaging reverse is something you almost have to think about, the DSG's near-conventional quadrant makes reversing effortless and requires no unnatural thought.
7. The TT 3.2 with DSG is decidedly ganzcool. That said, I really...
8. ...prefer the TT 3.2 with the six-speed manual.
That's all for now. Pretty cold here, but on the verge of balmy compared to the Midwest and East Coast.
Did I read correctly? 38°F in Florida?
Time to get some ZZZs. Get to sleep in 'til 10.30~11.00.

When do you think the TT 3.2 DSG and/or 6 spd will begin arriving stateside? What about a TTR 3.2 DSG? Is that coming here or even being offered?
Thanks.
Thanks.
