Drove my Roadster with roof up today...

Due to a significant brain fade, I had to return home today from work to pick up some stuff prior to a 9:00 am meeting, did not have time to lower roof (much bird activity in car park!).
A couple of observations, the first being how quiet the ride is. In normal use, I lower all windows including the rear 'wind block', much noise but open air motoring! It really was a nice roof up ride!
The second, it was the first time I used the climate control as well. Not sure I am a great fan of the unit. It worked OK, just seemed to work a little too hard for too long to get temp down.
Just some observations....

As I was tooling along I-15 heading from LA to Vegas yesterday I turned off the stereo to enjoy the silence. It is incredibly quiet, even at very high speeds (so I am told, having never exceeded the posted limit). There is very little wind noise and certaintly no top "flap". And this is without a liner!
I have to strongly disagree on the AC performance. Again, it is one of the best (if not the best) AC unit I have ever had. Las Vegas really demands the best AC in the summer. However, your exterior and interior color make a huge difference in heat stored inside the car. Someone's black interior sitting in the sun will take a lot longer to cool than my baseball.
Regarding top position for long periods of time. My and others experience indicates it doesn't matter much. I've known folks with hard tops for their convertible that did not raise the ragtop in years and it still worked OK, although it took a few days and a wash to erase the wrinkles. Similarly I have known a few who for some reason never dropped the top! Obviously the top will last longer if it is not exposed to the elements. Personally, I put my top and windows up if I know I am not going to use the car for a few days so the interior does not get dusty in the garage.
