TT (Mk1) Discussion Discussion forum for the Mk1 Audi TT Coupe & Roadster produced from 2000-2006

Dubstop refills do NOT work as Aero Wiper replacement blades (at least not the TT style). Anyone

Default Do you have a picture of the blade without the insert?

from what I can see it looks the same as the Passat one... blade looks different though

Default I drew you a technical diagram =o)

the "breasteses" portion of the diagram holds the insert in place anyways, so i'm not sure what the "head" portion does....

Default That write-up confirms they are different...

This shot shows that that are "totally" different:

<img src="http://www.hostdub.com/albums/PanEuropean/Wiper_6.jpg">

On the Passat wiper, the "airfoil" is part of the non-changed wiper arm/casing, that does not get changed from blade to blade. Also this design in general looks larger/bulkier than the TT design.

On the TT, the "airfoil" is part of the actual rubber wiper itself... The only other "structure" of the wiper blade is two thin pieces of metal, and a plastic clip in the center.

<img src="http://images19.fotki.com/v19/photos/4/435091/4078928/DSCN7990-vi.jpg">

I guess maybe the TT price is driven by its unique design... I guess I have no option other than ECS...

I'm still using my 50K mile originals, and they work flawlessly. )

Default get Passat aero blades 1J1 955 425 A (drivers side)

The Passat blades allow refills to be used. You will need 2 driver side blades. The mount on the passenger side blade is off center and will not work on the TT.

Available at: <a href="http://www.worldimpex.com/item_detail.html?sku=257003">World Impex</a>.

Default I have a set on the way from 1stvwparts.com (cheaper than WorldImpex, btw). Is the resultant wiper

arm as low at the TT arm, though (distance from the glass to the top of the blade)? I need minimum height, or my washers hit the arm... Guess I'll see Wednesday when the parts get here.
