I saw these as recommended on the Tirerack website "Dunlop Winter Sport M2". Any opinions, please!
I like in Milwaukee WI, do we get snow, but usually most of the time it is try, what I want is superior grip in the snow, ice etc. I want it to corner like it was on the 040s but grab the snow (I understand I will need a combo of this).
I had to try it myself, and took my 040's in the snow tonight, you were right useless, but wow a lot of fun, controlling the fish tails, and the power cornering.
Lots of fun, but now down to business...

I've been through 2 winters with Blizzaks, and now with the Alpins, here in Mpls.
We had 2" today, and they just grab, bite, and go.
The Alpins are great on the wet surfaces also, like yesterday. They are not as good as the OEM's, but they stick.
I wouldn't plan to do 100mph with them either, but not in MN in the winter with anything.
Sounds like for me I made the right choice, as we are expected to get an "average" winter this year, meaning a lot more snow than the last 3.

Good dry weather performance, first day of snow here in Chicago and they are great;
I haven't driven on snowpacked roads yet...Call Eddie at Tirerack he had the tires and
rims here in three days, and that counted the Thanksgiving holiday.

1. Wider tires (albeit a small diff.) will actually 'ride up' on the snow, and not dig in as much.
2. Higher profile of the 16" tire is better over-all in the snow and ice conditions.
Again, YOUR CONDITIONS MAY VARY!
This is the best set-up for the conditions I have right now, and will be experiencing for the next 3-4 months.
