Default Is DV problem real or a paranoia? Houston experience?

I talked to two very knowledgeable Audi service people at Don McGill Audi today. They claim there have been no complaints at this major Houston dealership about the DV issue. Their opinion of the reported "honk" noise (they have seen this forum) is that it is probably some kind of resonant frequency from the exhaust system or other piping. It is surprising, with all the "press" on this forum that a respected dealer in a major city has not had anyone coming in with problems that can be linked to DV failure.

Has anyone in Houston been to Don McGill with the DV problem? They are obviously willing to do a diagnosis, but I have to travel nearly 300 miles to get there. Also the "honk" I had has now disappeared. I was hoping they were already well aware of the problem before I made the trip. Also since the symptoms have disappeared, my chances of getting any sort of positive response to the problem seems remote.

There are people on this forum who seem to have diagnosed and solved this problem (Bailey fix?). But if dealers like McGill haven't even had any complaints it makes one wonder whether this a real problem or not? Hasn't anyone in Houston experienced, and reported, the problem or is the dealer downplaying this issue? Until the dealers get enough real experience to diagnose and report the problem, Audi certainly isn't going to have any incentive to get involved. I for one don't like the solution of buying after market parts - especially on a car that includes a complete maintenance program.

Default Just call AoA - they'll admit it's real without having to go back through everyone's experiences....

We've obviously been over this many times in this forum.

Default 225TTR..

whats the number I can call in to confirm that their DV is faulty? I live in Canada, should both Audi of Canada and America be the same? or..? I just brought the car to the dealer, the service guy knows nothing about it, and claim that the 'internet boards' aren't mechanics and wouldn't know much about the vehicle itself, I just want to prove him wrong.
Blue/Blue 180QC w/Performance package/Bose/MKII suspension/Madico Chrome tint (50%/35%)/Piaa Bulbs/Growing list

I talked with one of the salesmen at Don McGill about this issue yesterday. He knew of 1 DV problem on a TT at the dealership.

Default It's as real as real can get...got mine replaced (more)

I took the vehicle in and gave the mechanic the symptoms. Never did I say "diverter valve." I played ignorant. The mechanic said the diverter valve was bad. They shipped one overnight FEDEX and it was replaced today.
While I await my Bailey, I am VERY impressed with the difference in performance. Mine went bad @ 1650 miles...all of a sudden without warning.
The lead mechanic said that he thought Audi's placement of the plastic valve was odd since it is near the firewall and is closer to the driver's "ear" and also doesn't get much heat dissipation there. Then went on to cite difference in A4, etc.

Default Not true! ("We have no record of that being an issue...")

Despite "the letter," if you call AoA they will deny having heard of the problem before (at least they have every time I've called...)

Default Man, to whom did you speak? (more)

When I was speaking to AofA on an unrelated issue (availability of parts to repair my 1st TT) the rep. started talkling about the volume of calls they'd had on the diverter valve hum. She said it was obviously a "big" problem and they had a fix in the pipeline.

That "fix" is the "G" suffix valve of course. Hah!
