First of all this is a Steve Schwing mod that I have been wanting to do for a while.
We are all familiar with the cheap OEM plastic fasteners -

I sourced the new Dzus fasteners at www.speedwerks.com (see specific link below) -

Per Steve Schwing's Fotki I made the template -
<img src="http://images7.fotki.com/v152/photos/1/168597/1843385/DSC00566a-vi.jpg">
You will need a rivet tool and a few supplies from Lowes or Home Depot, etc.
<img src="http://images8.fotki.com/v155/photos/1/168597/1843385/DSC00551-vi.jpg">
Rivet the springclips into place after using the template to drill holes on either side of the 6 openings.
<img src="http://images7.fotki.com/v152/photos/1/168597/1843385/DSC00558a-vi.jpg">
Covers back on and Dzus locked in place.
<img src="http://images7.fotki.com/v149/photos/1/168597/1843385/DSC00564a-vi.jpg">
Very easy to do and VERY easy to remove these covers now without losing those dang plastic pieces in my engine bay.<ul><li><a href="http://public.fotki.com/BlueTTop/mods/dzus_fasteners/">My Fotki link with more Dzus details including specific link to source parts</a></li></ul>

they are threaded...these clips are not....so its easy this way...
Plus those "pulls" would be exposed to everything....and could get caught on something and pulled out. IMO
