I have a prosport electric boost gauge that came with a sender unit. I was really psyched to get the gauge because I thought I could eliminate the T in the line to my diverter valve but when it came with a filter and a sender unit I hooked it up and have been using it since. (BTW my N249 is deleted so the DV is hooked up straight to the intake manifold then the sender T'd into it)
I was working on the car the other day and snapped the plastic sender unit and subsecuently broke it. A new one is $25 bucks or so so it's not a huge deal but I was wondering if I could splice into the wires for the MAP sensor since that is an absolute pressure sensor right???
Question is is that detecting manifold pressure? Also I know the ECU can only recognize up to 22psi, is that the ECU or the MAP sensor? AKA if I use the map sensor will I be able to see spikes above 22psi?
Also what wire configuration would I want to use if I do use the map? My boost gauge has a 3 wire setup just like our MAP and mine are red, white, and black - seems like ( - / + / ground ).... Has anyone done this before!?
I would much rather not have the T there and the extra messy looking sender unit...
TIA!!!!

to work. I VERY HIGHLY doubt they match. There are 1000's of pressure senders out there, the chances that they are the same are next to nil.

I guess I will measure the voltages of both senders @ atm and see if they are the same. Wonder if they make conversion sets or something. Anyway I guess that's not going to work so time to order a new sender unit.
I relocated it to inside the car by removing the rain tray and sticking the vac line in the black passageway from the back of the battery to inside the rain tray then made a gromet on this white sealer panel that let's a lot of wires into the cars cabin by the drivers feet. Pretty stealth and cool I think at least. I'm happy with it!
Well my n249... I removed it when my dv was fluttering a lot. Turned out one of the sensors was cracked. It was expensive and most 1.8T guys delete most systems. I have the n249 deleted, sai system almost fully deleted and I don't have an improper flow code
also I'm going to change the crank case ventilation and pcv system, however, the actual pcv valve will stay there I just don't want so much oil running through the vacuum system so I'm going to use an in-line catch can and hopefuly get a little more life out of the turbo!
I know this isn't 100% approved here
but my car runs better without that crap anyway. A lot more opertunities for vacuum leaks with all that junk!
