Default ESP/ABS problem. What's Going on Here?

Last night in the first 15 mins of driving in moderate rain and temps of about 35F, the ESP and ABS symbols appeared during heavy acceleration and remained illuminated on the dial. I drove for 10 minutes hoping they would clear automatically, but when they didn't I stopped, shut the car down and then restarted. The faults cleared. Later that evening the sequence as described above occurred again. Inquiring minds want to know what's up! (2001 225 Coupe, no problem history)

Default To contrast Ross, this happened to me and eventually went away

I still think ESP is too sensitive but that what that but round button is for.

Default after they replaced everything on my car - ESP is now completely

unobtrusive - whereas it was overly sensitive before...I wonder if there is an adjustment...

Default Hey! I've got a similar problem!

I've got an '01 225 coupe also. I've had the ABS/ESP symbols light up (and stay on until I turn off the car) as well as the ABS actuate. Not such a cool thing when I'm on the freeway and don't really anticipate the brakes going crazy!). Of course, since it doesn't do it for the dealer, they don't think it's a problem!

Annoying. I have done some research in the archives here and elsewhere, and it appears as if the problem is not unknown. People report, and this is my situation as well, that it often occurs 1. when the car is cold, ie in the first 20 mins of driving 2. during a period of acceleration over rough road or around a bend which triggers the sensor/s 3. that the culprit is the "longitudenal sensor" apparently located somewhere behind the glove compartment, and costing around $200 to replace. 4. after the car has been modded in some form, ie after market chip installed.

This is the first problem my car has exhibited and I'm a little bummed, but hey, could be worse, and it happens rarely, but usually when I need all the gizmos working.
