ESP - controllable? or non-controllable?
I have read all the postings about ESP, but I still haven't got a clear answer about it being able to have it 'completely' turned off or 'completely' turned on. I have read earlier about it having to manually turn ESP off, the car should be in 'fun' mode, while leaving it on, the car would be in 'safe' mode, meaning the ESP could be shut down completely. This link below is a clip of a review of the RS4(LARGE LARGE clip), the reviewer shows how the car handles with ESP on, and ESP off. But could the ESP in Europe be different than the ones in North America? Is the fact that the ESP is really controllable true? I'm really confused about the ESP turning on by itself eventhough you have manually turned it off if the car senses its losing control, if this is true, whats the definition of 'losing control' is it to the ESP system? I have read about ESP on the UK forum, but I'm still not quite sure about this question I have. Can owners with ESP system give me a definate answer to this please? I'm still debating if I should have it sent all the way to texas from here in Canada. Thanks ahead!

http://www.btinternet.com/~rs4/movies/rs4/rs4-tg-full.mpg</a

He's just saying that the RS4, like all Audis, plows heavily
I don't think it was ever said that any footage was taken with ESP on. He used a few of many tricks to induce oversteer. You can induce oversteer on the 225Q by lifting off the gas and downshifting as you enter the turn or by getting on the gas early as you exit the turn in a low gear. All this WITH ESP on. If you come into a corner plowing ESP will roll back the engine power. Take that as a lesson to set the next corner up better. Don't rush to turn ESP off - learn to play tricks with it. You'll be surprised (and scared) the first time it kicks in hard, and boy does it kick hard!
