I just replaced my rack and pinion on my 2001 Audi TT (225) because of a leaky inner tie rod seal. As i turned my car on i noticed the ESP light was on so i pushed the button to disengage but it still remained on. I reinstalled everything the way i found it and i do not recall un-plugging any sensors or wires. I also replaced the driver side axle. The only thing i can think of that may relate to the issue would be the linkage that bolts to the driver side control arm that connects to the trans (not exactly sure of what its function is?). I removed only the bolt that connected the the linkage to the control arm nothing else.

About the only thing I can thgink of is the speed sensors on each hub.
I am assuming that you cannot test for faults as you should get an error code if the sensors are not wired in correctly or are faulty.
You need to get a VAGCOM tester if you do not have one.
