Default Extended warranty and timing belt

Having 61k miles on my car, this talk about timing belt disasters had me thinking I was sitting on a time bomb. I called Interstate Star Auto with whom I have the Platinum ext warr. Initially they told me the first timing belt failure wouldn't be covered but they were under the impression that Audi maintenance recommended replacement at 50-60K miles. Once they understood that the official recommendation is at 105K miles they agreed timing belt failure would be covered at this point. I'll feel even better if I can get it in writing. So I won't be worrying about my timing belt. What's the worst thing that could happen--I get a new engine.

Belts are not covered by all of these deals. Get it on paper.

Default Just talked to WarrantyDirect, and.......>

My TT has 44K and I do plan to keep the car longer term. They will charge me $2625 to cover the car for 4 more years up to 100k miles.

They said they would only cover timing belt damage if it occurs prior to the scheduled maintenance for the timing belt. The rep said that if our scheduled maintenance shows the timing belt should be replaced at 75K (I don't know what the manual says) and you did not replace the belt at 75k, and there is a failure at 76K, then I would eat all costs associated with the failure and the belt. The reasoning is that one cannot just quit changing the oil and expect an engine replacement if the engine siezes up. Makes sense to me.

What does our owner's manual say about scheduled maintenance for the timing belt?
