Default Factory shocks

Is it true that TTs are equipped with Monroe shocks direct from the assembly line? Would Bilsteins or Konis alone do the trick to turn this already great handling car into a real good handler? I am really hesitant to lower the car because it is already a little rough on the bumps. Plus lowering it makes it harder to go up to the mountains for skiing. I know coilovers are made just for that reason, but still don't want a stiff ride.

Ride height is not directly related to ride stiffness

True, but ride height does lower center or gravity, therefore limiting drivability in snow.

Default Lower center of gravity has no cons ...

I'm considering Eibachs or H&Rs with Konis soon..

The only thing is, you might start scraping the undercovers through some ice/slush/snow when it's lowered.
But lowering the center of gravity does help the handling etc.

Default Except in the TT you might just throw off the center of gravity by lowering...

not improve it.

what he meant to say was that just replacing your shocks/struts will not alter your ride height.

I believe the original question was whether Koni or Bilstein shocks would dramatically improve the handling over the factory shocks? I do not want lower center of gravity.

Default Yes, definitely. Just go with Billstein's and the OEM springs. You will be amazed at the handling...

difference.
You ride will suffer a bit, it will be a bit more harsh, but you will love the handling improvement

Default I did try OEM springs with Bilsteins on the S4

It was good for the 1st few weeks, then the ride turned to be som much stiffer [more than what I wanted].

So maybe you can try adjustable Konis [free shipping offered!]
