First, this is not about my TT, but my wife's 99 Passat Wagon with 47K miles sprung its first CEL today.
My Vag-Com said this was fault code 17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Rich
I cleared the CEL and then went for a ride. The CEL did not come back, but this fault code did.
The car is bone stock with 1.8T and Tip.
What does this fault code indicate?
No one had put gas in the car in a week, so I do not expect a loose gas cap since car has less than 1/2 a tank of gas now.
Your help is appreciated.

...But I doubt that my experience will help you. Mine came on because a hose popped off. It's a plastic hose that comes off the side of the airbox. It just kinda snaps on, but mine pops off every once in a while and throws that code after it has been off for a while.
I've been told it's a secondary air injection thing that pumps air into the engine while it's cold, and it shouldn't throw any codes, but mine sure seems to. However, I doubt that's what is going on with your car.
