Default A few incredibly incredibly nebulous questions from a newbie considering a 2000 TT . . .

First, the car still has the Mk I suspension and is sans-spoiler & ESP. Having seen a few comments on the Mk I vs Mk II setups (which seem to favor the Mk I), am I missing the boat without the ESP? Some objective comparisons of the Mk I vs. the Mk II, as well as comments on the ESP issue, would be appreciated.

Second, as I was literally taken to the bank when my A6 warranty expired, I'm a little nervous about buying an Audi with a rapidly diminishing warranty. Any huge, consistent warranty items that I should be concerned with?

Third, my child is a little under two years old. While this car would not be his primary mode of transporation (a Volvo XC after our A6 went into the crapper), I'm curious as to any experience anyone might have regarding installing a car seat in the back of a TT. Is it impossible/foolish?

Default Oh yeah, one more . . .

How does a chipped 180hp model compare to a non-chipped 225hp model? I've heard there are substantial differences other than hp between the two models. Is the consensus that it's better to start with the 225hp coupe or do it yourself with a chip?

Default I am glad I did not spend the money on the ESP upgrade

I seriously considered it, and opted not to. It sounds like people around here that really drive the car properally turn it off most of the time anyway. If you have Quattro and you are still out of control GOD help you :-)

Even in my Boxster S I was glad to see that it did not have traction control, I really like to do all the driving, not the computer

just my 2 cents

Alas, I am far too exhausted from Haldex / Torsen to even scratch the surface of Mk1 vs. Mk2. ^^^^^

I would probably just wait until the warranty expires next March.

Default You might want to poll the masses before inciting me.

I also need to straighten up the house before my wife gets home and our guests arrive - otherwise I might lose my internet priviledges for a while.
