I haven't noticed a higher wear rate on the pressure plate diaphragm springs or throwout bearing in my particular case.

Now, a quick step by step on double-clutch downshiftexample car in 3rd gear)

1)clutch in
2)stick to neutral position
3)clutch out
4)blip throttle
5)clutch in
6)stick to 2nd
7)clutch out
The whole process should eventually take no more than 1/2 second after practice.
That's it, to get it smooth takes a long time but it's worth it.<p>Jason Dale
