Default Floor Jack for TT - what lift height needed?

Sears has one on sale today. Checked the case, says it lifts 14 1/2 inches. Will that be high enough to clear jack stands?

TIA

How tall are your jack stands?

Default The big question is...

I bought a 3-ton jack and was about to use it to swap my snows off. Got everything ready and then found out that the jack in its fully-compressed state wouldn't fit under my TT.

Needless to say, I had to use the one that came with the TT instead. It worked well (for the 4th swap so far), but I still hope to get a "real" jack for next season's swap. Just have to find one that is thin enough when fully down to fit under the TT.

Default My jack stands go from 10 1/2" to 17" ...

Gadgett, thanks for the advice. Like you, I mostly just want to swap snows out. There's part of me that says just use the Audi jack - at least I know where to place it! But, also like you, I'd like to do it the big-boy way, with a jack and jackstands. I picked up the sears jack - it compresses to 4 1/2 inches. I think plenty low to fit under those rubber pad things. Maybe I'll try it and if doesn't work, I'll just return it.

Default Show off. I'm jealous...

I suspect the lube for that bad boy costs more than the jack I picked up. Is it an optical illusion, or is your T balanced on just two contact points?
