Default Fog light mod could cause overheating and melted harness?

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/50880/03-11-06_2144.jpg">

i did my fog light mod 2 weeks ago (the one so that the fog lights stay on with parking lights)

and a week later all of a sudden my headlight/fog light/turning signals wouldn't work

the service technician told me the harness and switch was bad, they pulled it out and found part of them are melted

could this be related to the modification or it's just a coincidence?

any thoughts?
thanks in advance!! =)

Just another thought, in fact I've been having buzzing sound (pzzzzzzz) with the turning signals for almost 2.5 years, the noise sound comes behind the hazard switch, since I was also told that this was implying some part of the switch was going bad, could this also be related?

Now that everything is fixed with a new harness/switch, the noise is gone, and of course the mod is gone too.... =(

Default I had that buzzing sound... it turned out to be the hazard / turn signal relay too...

....I thought it was the little fan inside the climate control unit making the noise, as others have had, but a new hazard / blinker relay got rid of the buzzing.

...not sure what caused your melted harness though...could have been a short in the fog light mod I guess.

Default No, if you did my mod...

Bridging the circuit as I have shown does not permit any additional load on the circuit that Audi did not spec out for the circuit.

This mod just allows the lights to be turned on in the parking light switch position. No additional electrical load is being supplied by this mod.

Now if the bulbs were changed out and the wattage is different from stock, that could overload the circuit causing the harness to fail.

Default I've been running the mod for a year with no issue. It is quite possible that some damage was

inadvertantly done at the same time, though.

Default Canadian TTs come with driving lights...as in fogs on with parking lights. I doubt that the wiring

is different, so if you did it right...shouldn't be a problem.

Default Or in my case

they'd be on all the time.

Stupid busted headlight switch. I'm about ready to epoxy it together. I've taped it together so that the back part doesn't go crooked and it works for about a week :\
