Default No offense Axel, but you're not exactly pointing out how John is wrong.

You're just taking offense and high-tailing it out....which just strikes me as...well...demonstrating exactly the kind of behavior that John doesn't care for in the first place.

Default Are you taking this as an attack?

I hope not, I take people for what they are as individuals, I only generalize about whole countries =-p

Default I'm not saying he's wrong.

I'm saying that "the french disgust me" and "if you want to defend France, why are you here" are not statements that make me feel very welcome. In fact, it makes me feel like people are going to be throwing stones at me on my way home. There is a difference between disapproving of a country's policy and making that kind of statements about that country.

Default You're proving my point. I've witnessed anti-Americanism personally in France many, many

times.

Why is it that many Canadian travelers in Europe stitch Canadian flags on their baggage? Because they don't want to be treated as Americans.

Every time I go to France I speak the language. I've been shortchanged, sneered at, etc., far too many times to believe your assertion that anti-Americanism doesn't exist in France. I'm courteous first, contemptuous later. I haven't experienced this treatment in any of these countries/protectorates, EVER:

-Germany
-UK
-Ireland
-Spain
-Austria
-Switzerland
-Netherlands
-Italy
-Luxembourg
-Greece
-Israel
-Singapore
-Thailand
-Australia
-Japan
-Indonesia
-Hong Kong
-Mexico
-Canada
-Costa Rica

I hear you and agree with that part....it's equally irrational.
