Default Calipers are not a "critical" torque area. Just use Lok-Tite *blue* and snug em to 40-50psi...

or thereabouts and you'll be fine. I've never used a torque wrench on them even when installing 996 Brembo calipers and never had one come loose. Just tighten by socket and give em a snug final effort and thats it.

Default If you mean the threaded caliper "guide pins", 25Nm (18-19 ft-lb) is spec'd in Bentley CD...

These two pins per caliper have protective caps.

IMO: 40-50 ft-lb may damage the thread on the guide pin. Overtorquing to something below elastic limit of a threaded fastener usually does little harm, but if you yield the thread, especially near the shoulder, you risk complete failure. If we're talking of the same fastener, 250% overtorque is way too much, and will most likely damage the fastener. Some folks either over or under-guess what torque "snug" is to them.
No flames intended, but way too much torque is bad.

I understood him to mean caliper mounting bolts, not guide pins...

Default Thanks Again--Only wanting to change the front pads !!

I haven't pulled the wheels yet to see what all has to come off. But I have done hundreds of brake jobs and wanted to torque everything back per factory specs. That is if Audi requires caliper removal to replace the pads. Installing Mintex C-Tech's for track event this weekend at Sebring.
