Default Congrats...rotor/pad replacements are always fun...one time saver I've found >>

You do not need to remove the hex caliper bolts. Just remove the carrier bolts (18 mm) and pull whole assembly off the rotor. You can then easliy pull off the clip, slide the caliper off those two hex bolts, remove old pads, set new pads (you'll need to slide the caliper back over the hex bolts before setting the one that pushes into the piston) and then slide back over the rotor. Torque the two carrier bolts. No need to touch the hex.

Default Good writeup. Used it last night. Three things to be emphasized.

1. It's mentioned here, but should be stressed that the inboard brake pad has three "feet" that get jammed into the caliper piston, so the inboard pad actually attaches itself to the removed piston assembly. The other (outer) pad slips into the caliper bracket that remains on the car.

2. Turn the wheels to push the caliper out where you can get better access to bolts (left for the left side, right for the right side). I had no problem getting a breaker bar on the caliper bracket bolts.

3. If you're using the "shortcut" of removing the whole caliper bracket+piston assembly, you will get hung up if the rotors are fairly worn. The "lip" that is worn will keep you from sliding the caliper/pad assembly off. You can either force the piston in (I had trouble doing that) or you can just take the piston assembly off first, then the bracket (as indicated in this write up).
