Default I will try to mod it first >>>>

But I want to see what real-world problems there are (if any) if I have to remove it totally.

Default I doubt it contributes to chassis stiffening since there are impact absorbers holding it to the

frame. If that safety bar was meant to add to stiffening, the impact absorbers can prematurely wear out - my 2 cents

However, it is defintely there for impact protection and safety. Perhaps you can replace it with a chrome moly piping of adequate size custom bent around your mod?

Default Didn't know you were adding structural components...

Thanks for clarifying. Sorry to come across like an ahole. Those 5 mph parts can save your life not only through structural integrity but through material properties as well. Cheers!

Default Yes >>>

I do realize that it is there for a reason. What I will replace it with is plenty strong.....

I spent a bit of time reading up on it, and it is basically there to absorb a bit of impact - it shears off the mount points fairly easily. However, at high speeds, I dont see it doing much.

And yea, I will be replacing it with something stronger and thicker. Probably not as impact-absorbing, but good enough. the 5-point harness should make up for any lack of safety

Default exactly. the 2.5mph bumper is just that.... doesn't make any difference in a major crash>>

the unibody is designed with crumple zones to absorb some of the energy from such impacts.

Default it makes sense that it absorbs & dissipates the first few mph of energy>

even in a high-speed crash, so you are losing some protection in those in addition to the low-speed loss (presuming you weren't replacing it with anything).

Default I agree-the laws of physics apply at all speeds.

I don't think it suddenly vaporizes after 2.5 MPH. You can see from the pic that it is a substantial piece of metal.
