this. This is my 2nd new MKII rear bush - replaced it when I did my Defcons. It's shot. Don't exactly know why - but I'm thinking the torquing of the LCA is critical to do when the suspension is on the ground at rest.

I ordered the Powerflex poly's - I figured they can't be any worse than this! Hopefully they'll go in easy. If they don't work - it will be yet another round of OEM. UGH.

Default RE: torquing of the LCA is critical to do when the suspension is on the ground at rest

Do you think that the bolt binds with the center of the bushing and maintains a twist on the rubber?

I would think that if this were the case, upon loading the suspension it would free up. I don't really know, it has been a while since I have taken my control arms off.

Default Not the rear one....>

The flex is horizontal...It makes no difference on that one, though it does on the front..

Mine is shot as well and rattles like a cage. Is the wear the same on both wheels?

Default From Bentley:

Bolts with bonded rubber bushings must be tightened on its wheels with vehicle standing.
Otherwise, the rubber bushing will be stressed and have its service life shortened.

First sentence is in big bold print, so I guess you might say they're stressing it...

Default Yeah, I could see that being a problem on the front.

sandwiching the metal center of the bushing while preloaded my cause a problem, but I don't think that it would matter with the rear...like you said, a different type of loading.

Default Exactly - not sure if there is any "angle" when seated but obviously this is premature wear...

and they weren't torqued this time with the suspension settin on the ground.

Default I just installed Powerflex bushings in the a-arm. Love the feel..

I jacked the car and put a block under the arm near the ball joint, so I'd have room to tighten things down, but still have load on the suspension.

Default my originals cracked, but at hi mileage... the current ones, Mk 2 OEM's

installed with Def 1's, have 40,000 and are still fresh

only thing I can think of: was the car left on jack stands with the suspension at full droop?
