Default Fuel Mizer

I have a stock 1.8L 225hp. I ran a tank of 87 gas through it the first time I filled it up. I could hear no knock or ping or detonation of any kind. This tank I ran premium. I can percieve no power difference between the two. What do you guys think of me just running 87 all the time?

Default If you noticed no difference, either you have substandard 93, or you should have just gotten a 180.

I think 91 is the minimum on all models of TT. Run a few tanks of 93 through it & you should notice a difference.

Default More than likely>>>

the performance drop off was subtle, but running 87 is not a good idea for the long term. In a pinch, it will due....Some gas stations have 91, that would be the lowest i would go..

The TT is pretty good on gas....what is the purpose of running 87?

Default turbo engines usualy have lower compression ratios- so at light throttle...

you can burn crap- its when you get on it and the boost goes up that higer octane would be called for. So much depends on how you drive- if spirited at all then you would benefit from higher octane, and isn't that what a TT is for? You should be getting mid to high 20 mpg so the difference in the 2 is negligable.
