Default FWD vs. Quattro

I'm in the market for a new TT coupe (180hp), but I don't know if it's worth getting the Quattro or not. Maybe the FWD is good enough. (So I can use the extra money for aftermarket stuff) Any thoughts?

Default The extra weight of the haldex systems makes the 180 quattro underpowered.

If you go with quattro, I'd recommend going with the 225.

The FWD drivers seem to be happy with it overall, though the transmission, different from the 180Q, has been given to grinding.

no question, quattro. buying a FWD audi is like buying a burger without the meat.

Default I'd rather get a VW GTI 1.8T with FWD and save the $14k then buy a TT fwd

but that's just me. The 180hp TTQ is slightly underpowered - but that is easily changed

Default well a GTI 1.8T isn't the same as a FrontTrak TT but,.. i agree..

i would get the GTI instead of a FWD TT.... blargh! course i don't think i will ever own a FWD car.

Default depends on what you're looking for. in general my 180 FWD is plenty for my driving

would I love MORE POWER? Sure I would. Do I miss AWD in L.A.? Probably not all that much. How will you drive the car?

Don't listen to the snobs. If it's the money, get the FWD and be thrilled with the overall design of the car. It's a damn sight better an a VW.

If you live in a climate that would make the AWD a safety issue, well, then I guess I'd go for it.

Default EBB is the Guru on FWD and knows more about them than anyone else even though he doesn't have one

..but when you are as sharp as Dave is you don't need to learn things like other mortals you just sort of know them by the shear power of your intellect.
