Default I am proof that a person who is into cars can love a FWD TT, I am and I do, I would suggest that you

...drive both and consider the differences in cost, weight and driveablitiy then choose. JIM

VW GTI 1.8T $19,275 - TT FWD $31,200 = $11,925 To me it's no contest, buy the TT.

Default Listen to JimTT and karTT. Their advice is sound.

IMO, JimTT's "people" advice is also good.

Default Best $1750 you'll ever spend...

In kelly blue book for 1997 A4's, quattro option added more than MSRP in value to car.

Default Well - if you want to be picky - you can get a much better deal on a GTI than you can a TT

and i'm not slighting the TT in the least. My TT is a far superior car in EVERY respect to my GTI. IMO though - the almost $12k you save can make that GTI one hell of a car, but yes it will not be a TT.

To me though the quattro makes the car. After driving a heavily modified fwd GTI and the TTQ, the TTQ is just so much better in many ways and much of that is due to the quattro system.

Default If you look long term - Audi w/quattro should have better resale then FWD

When people think Audi they think quattro and a car without quattro might be harder to sell down the line. Same thing with a manual vs auto tramsmissions in most family cars these days - even if you prefer stick good luck selling it used with a stick (i know from personal experience).

Default If you dont mind the ASR get the FWD.... but either way i think the 180 is underpowered...and yes

I also think the 225 is underpowered as well... I think that if you do get the 180 get the quattro.... if youre looking for a high performance front wheel driver....ok nobody flame me.... get the best there is... the current 1.8L Acura
Integra Type R.... it outhandles the TT FWD no problem....Otherwise spend your money on the quattro cause if you really mod up your 180... youll be thankfull youre sending that extra power to something other than the front wheels....

My first TT was FWD. Never again. Get quattro.
