I keep reading post about glove box handles pulling off. This happens because the glove box is over filled. Do not over fill your clove box and do not force the glove box closed. There is a sliding pin that binds when the box is over filled and forced closed, the normal responce is to pull harder which unhinges the handle and it comes off in your hand. If your door will not open, push on the door with one hand and pull the handle with the other. This should open the door so you can remove excess stuff. If the handle comes off get a flat bladed screw driver and insert it between the two metal fingers (in the metal slot) and move to the right. This will open the door. To reattach the handle 1. line up the spring on the back of the handle with the 'spring post'located to the left of the slot 2. insert the tab on the back of the handle into the aforementiond slot 3. slide and push the handle onto the two (upper and lower) pivot pins. OR take you car to Audi and let them fix it. My handle came off and I fixed it as described and have had no more trouble. I keep my manual in the box and thats it. JIM

Wrong- Mine was empty and it was the plastic tabs attached to the "box" itself that broke. Audi has none in stock in Germany, and I've been waiting 2 MONTHS!! My local service manager alone has seen several broken latches. No "lock" should be this delicate. It is simply a bad design.
