oh man, is my gas gauge messed up!
I gased up last week and was surprised to see a ~700km instead of the usual ~500km reading on the trip computer (I thought it may have been because I was doing some highway cruising).
My gauge has been at full-ish reading all week and the computer is marked at about 450km remaining. While I do not do too much km in a week, I usually use up half a tank per week...
Then today, while I was at a red light on an incline the gauge jumped back and forth frantically between about 1/2 to 3/4 to full for about 5 seconds... and then back to full-ish.
I've tried opening the gas cap to let out pressure... no luck.
Some posts here indicate it may be while the trip computer is on the fuel read-out (but I have always had it there (about 5 months)). I also saw something about a "sending" unit.
Are there any definitive answers on the freaky gas gauge?
Thanks!
Jason

Your symptoms are an exact match to mine as well as several others. Unfortunately, only one person (that we know of) had the problem cured by replacing the sending units (under warranty). Others (like me) are waiting for our first scheduled service visit. Sorry I don't have any answers yet, but I will report the results when available. If anyone else has had these symptoms cured, please speak up. -Jeff

I had my fuel senders replaced and it took over 5 months to get the parts. Now it is finally fixed! I would recommend getting it to the dealer soon so they can order the part for you. I was using my odometer to get by for the months that my gas guage was busted.
