Gates belt vs. Continental belt

I've been looking at a timing belt install and I have the OEM Continental as well as the accessory belt.
Well, I purchase an Unorthodox Racing underdrive Pulley Set 3pcs and they recommend Gates in the instructions.
Gates has a racing belts product service line but only list an accessory belt for the A4 1.8 which I'm not sure will fit but they do have a standard type belt to replace both the Continental OEM belts I have now. What's the advantage?

Gates probably makes one that meets the spec you need and is readily available hence the recommendation. Accessory belts are not that critical...One is probably as good as the other proivded the length is right..
BTW, many have had issues with a 3 pulley underdrive system on the TT....We don't really like em much here..
