happy new year!
the defi d wiring instructions for my temp gauge call for:
dimmer - white
power - red
ground - black
ignition - orange
(the colors are the ones from the gauge)
the only one i don't know where to pull from is the 12v ignition. this is not the same as the 12v constant (power)... also doesn't the ignition just send a brief voltage? if so.. what's it for? to trigger the start-up sequence on the gauge?

gauges have a self check sequence built in. The ignition starts this. It also makes sure the gauge is not hot all the time. I tapped everything off of my headlight switch. I am pretty sure it was black with a red stripe that was ignition off of the headlight switch, but you can confirm this with a test lite.....

Yes, I believe it's the 'switched-power'. To start my Defi boost gauge when the ignition is turned on. I connected my switched and constant powers to the fuse box. Switched power is in the middle while constant 12v was on the left.
