Default good news and some bad news >>

rear pilot sport blew before I was about to go winter wheels... so I decided to buy and mount new summer tires so I wouldn't have to deal with it next year.... (plus this buys me a bit of time to do some NASA curb rash repair to my OEM 6-spoke winter wheels)

on top of the flat... temp sensor trips last week and I find out there's no coolant. at all. dealer says... water pump. that put me back a bit.

good news is... car is fixed, the kumho ecsta MXs are amazing even in 50 degree weather, and I found a guy that does wheel repair for under $50 a wheel.

car extravaganza is over.... for now.

If you don't mind me asking, how bad was the water pump replacement?

Default well, the pump itself is under $80 (dealer)>>

but the labor is almost the same as a timing belt... it's roughly in the same place. usually when they change a timing belt (which I did a few thousand miles ago at another shop) they replace the pump, which they did.

I brought it to the dealer.. so obviously I got reamed.

I might have tried to tackle this myself.. but I couldn't problem solve it. I didn't see coolant leaking anywhere... not on the garage floor, etc. apparently it leaked all over engine components and never hit the ground. I was also worried it leaked into the oil cooler..... it's a closed system and apparently it has happened to some before.

all told with mounting and balancing the new tires... it was like $700.

I won't be eating yet again this month because of my beloved TT.

Who are you using for the wheel repair? Address? Contact?

Default I've noticed my coolant getting down to the MIN in the overflow

a few times and I'm a bit concerned I have a leak somewhere too. It doesn't go down very quickly but still it is something I'd rather have taken care of while I still have some warranty left.
