Default Got the battery light with a new optima battery...

I did a battery relocation. I connected the fuse box that was originally attached to the positive cable terminal to the wiring going to the positive terminal in the back. The ground is the wheel well bolt that has the paint sanded down. My question is this: The battery when it is disconnected from both positive and ground starts to go up to 12 volts. I know that 12.2 is the threshold and I was wondering if I recharge it with the trickler it will go up to 12.7 were it is suppose to be?

When it is connected to to the terminals the battery reads 11.8.

Please help. Battery? Connection? I doubt it is the alternator becuase the old battery was fine. It could also be the connection which I doubt.

Now I am rambleing....

TIA

Default Update...

Its not the battery. The orginal battery that was functioning well has the same behavior when hooked up. When I rev it up it doesnt go up much ( only 0.2V. So it is the connection. The following is my connection. Is there something wrong with this? It would make sence that the alternator went bad but the chances of that right after I do a battery relo is very very slim.

Took off both insulation off of both and wrapped the fuse wire around the battery wire and then taped it up. If I had to bet I would say that was the problem but I dont know why.

Default This connection should be a physical connection..>>

the wire needs to have a clamp here or better yet, soldered!

Maybe you have done this and I have misunderstood you.

Default you can't do that. wrapping the wire won't cut it . like TTBlack said, plus the way tou have ...

its actually dangerous . Go to Auto zone and buy some terminals.

Default

ohm meter won't tell you if it can handle the current you'll be putting through it.
