Default OK, well that was then, this is now. I call it the midlife crisis car...

for the over 50.

I respect men over 50 in Porsches, Ferraris, Lambo's and even TT's. But the Corvette is soooooo cliche. Even a Turbo Bentley. But a Vette? Naw!

Default You are wrong

Here is comparison

Specs:
BMW M5
0 - 100 km/h --> 4.5 seconds
0 - 200 km/h --> 13.8 seconds

Porsche 996 Turbo:
0 - 100 km/h --> 4.2 seconds
0 - 200 km/h --> 14.6 seconds

996 Turbo is a little faster from 0 - 100 km/h, but from 0 - 200 km/h M5 is faster for almost a second.

Default corvette really is a "second car". Its a great car don't get me wrong, but living with it everyday

is not that enjoyable. Its doable, but its not as enjoyable as it is with a porsche. There is a reason why many people spend the money and get a more expensive car that performs below its cheaper rival. To many having the "fastest" does not justify the compromises.
P.S. Vette isn't that cheap anymore. Yes it starts at 45K, but Z06 STARTS at 65
