Default Got my first Crack on my windshield !!! Is this covered by warranty???

I washed the car... drove it around for awhile then went inside the house.. No crack yet... After an hour later, went back out to take a drive and there it was... between the wipers... CRACKeD. Is this covered by the warranty... just got the car three weeks ago.

Default Depends on the cause...

If an external force created the crack (rock) then, no.

I had this happen in a jeep and, fortunately, the crack was caused by a defect in the edge of the glass (no evidence of impact) and the windshield was replaced under warranty.

Carefully check the frame to ensure that something didn't impact the seal at the origin of the crack. If you have ni impact mark (pit or scuff) then Audi should replace it.

Default No rocks. The crack started between the 2 wipers...

from the bottom of the windshield by the seal then it goes up about 3.5 inches then curves right for another 3.5 inches. Just straight line crack. No signs of a rock hitting the windshield

Default Only covered by warrant if it is a stress crack.... (more)

I asked my dealer about this before I took delivery. This is what he said about the cracked windshield issue. His words: "Take a ball point pen and go over the whole crack. Should the point of the pen sink into a small dip that means you have a chip that was caused by a rock. Should there be no dip then its a stress crack, which is covered by the warranty." Hope that helps. Good luck.

Default Re: Thanks.. no dip.... Take it to the dealer and have them check it out. I don't see any..

reason why your dealer won't replace it. Good luck.
