grinding noise from rear
i am getting a grinding noise from the rear of my 2001 tt. it gets worse when i am turning. i jacked it up and turned wheels but hear nothing while turning them one at a time or at the same time. i changed rear diff fluid and did not notice any subsatantial metal shaving in old oil. i do need new brakes and rotors in the rear. the brakes do rub in one small spot when i rotate them while it is jacket up. when i am going from a stop and have the wheel turned sharply is when it is the worst

I had same problem in my 2001. Likely it is the pad not releasing completely. Also with sharp turns brakes are selectively applied automatically to assist in stability and maneuverability. Also the passenger caliper may be binding. I have seen other postings in forum stating audi has hah a continuing problem with rear calipers due to the parking brake mechanism.
