Scenic Driver

At both bear mtn drives, people had expressed interest in a fall drive. The drive I had in mind is approx an 80mi loop starting and ending in New Paltz, NY. The drive would be followed by lunch at a local brewpub. Is anyone still interested? Please post here or send me an email to let me know.

I'm very interested to join a Fall GTG.
I'm a few minutes away from taking my bike for a ride in that area, as I really like some of the roads. I will be taking 52 west to Ellenville, 209 north to 44 to 32 to New Paltz to Hurley, across the Hudson to Rhynebeck, then along some backroads to Beacon where I'll stop for some fresh gelato.
I don't know the route you had in mind, but if Rt 30 was going to be part of it (between 17 and 28) you might want to think twice. I was on a bike ride last weekend through there and eventhough it was very scenic, the road condition were atrocious.

but this was a discussion that was had on vortex a few months back (and i know how some of you feel about this site -vs- that one, although personally i get along with everyone ).

anyway, there are at least 10-20 NY NJ PA CT people from that site who expressed interest in doing some sort of tri-state GTG this year, and also a few people from audiforums.

perhaps this would be a good chance for it to happen. i bet it could be pretty large if it was done right.

either way im definitely down for this, keep us posted!!

...which honestly from what i've seen from people's willingness to follow through on things and how many people end up coming most probably won't be worth the work.

It's a nice idea but I already have my 99% of my drive and all of the details worked out and I can already can say with certainty that some things would have to be changed for a very large group. Also I don't think I have the time to make the required number of trips up there to work out the details, organize and do drive throughs with group leaders, etc.

I plan on cutting this off after a certain number of drivers if it goes beyond what I expect based on the turnout for the bear mtn drive I had this and last year. If I keep it simple even if 3 people show up I still don't mind doing it and have a good time.
