Guys running high boost: Is it normal to only be hitting peak boost on 3rd gear?? or boost leak? TIA

I can not hit full boost until 3rd gear (22psi)
1st and 2nd are too short of a gear to produce full boost. Obviously 4th and 5th are full boost, but at that point I am well over a legal speed, and not really paying much attention to the boost gauge

not sure what you could run that would hit that kind of boost, but you could probibly hit it in 3rd.
It has more to do with how high the RPMs are running when you hit full boost. With the lower gears the turbo can't spool up that fast and build pressure. 27-28psi will send your car to limp mode for sure, unless you would be running a STG III kit, and even then that seems high. Can't remember what Sean or Marcus have seen in terms of peak psi, but my thoughts would be 28psi MAX and that is after their STG III kit was installed. It really had to do with how fast the turbo can spool, ie how fast you can get the exhaust air to the turbo.
