Default had a 460hp z28, now buying 03-04 TT help with mods...

long story short, selling my low 12 sec Z28 for a TT (GF having a baby). The Z will not go anywhere in the snow (live in chicago), exhaust too loud, 4.10 gear, etc etc its pretty much a racecar. The TT is still small but more practical than what i have

Going to buy a 03-04 TT coupe, looking for a 6spd but will deal with a auto for the right price. I do quite a bit of work myself but that was with an american car.....

So far Im watching out for:

new water pump, timing chain, belt tensioner & damper, coil recall, gauge cluster recall, etc. I wont buy a car without paper work showing what maintenance has been done to the car.

Right now the mods i have planned:

42DD cold air intake or hi flow intake
42DD downpipe
GIAC tune/ECU flash
Diverter valve + relocation piece

Considering:

new south intake gasket
Turbo inlet hose
shocks/springs
race/upgraded brake pads
turbo back exhaust ($$$ so idk)

The reason why i am so heavy on HP mods is cuz this car will handle 5x better than my Z ever would. I just need the stright line speed pumped up a bit.

any help guys?? anything i need to look out for?? any mods for HP that i dont have??

If you want to do mods stay way from the auto.

auto=fwd=180=almost no mods.

A lot less choices not just for performance but also suspension etc.

You might need to look at an upgraded Haldex controller.

This is not the best site for performance advice on the TT.

There is no 2002-2003 Auto AWD TT.

2004 was available with a VR6. AWD and DSG. For all sorts of reasons you should probably avoid modding a DSG TT. Google mechatron.

Turbo cars have a timing belt, only the VR6 has a timing chain.

Front mount intercooler, boost controller up to 20PSI, bigger turbo, engine back exhaust, K&N intake, header, power pulleys when you do timing belt, 007 diver valve with yellow spring, this will give you about 350HP, hope this helps.

A couple of things to be aware of. Mods for the TT are very expensive compared to other makes. And you won't come anywhere close to the HP you are accustomed to with the Z28 unless you spend $$$$$$ and get hardcore.

- I imagine no one has really hit 300hp as of yet (someone correct me if
I'm wrong) with the basic mods (chip, exhaust, cai, boost adj,
downpipe).

- The weight of the TT is always an issue (3000+lbs) depending on AWD or
not. I personally like the 225hp/6 speed better.

- I would add these to your mod list: short shifter (Diesel Geek is
great), Modshack product line (cai, manual boost controller, air
optimizer), front mount intercooler (I have a Forge), rear seat delete
(saves some weight with coupe. not sure how much), bigger brakes (maybe
StopTech or Brembo kit).

You can just do things a little at a time and have fun!

375 would take LOTs of stuff begining with a bigger turbo. Rods would have to be replaced too.

Im just looking for it to run high 12's.....12.80's @ 107 ish would be fine for me. The car will already handle better than my z with koni double adj. shock, custom springs, 35mm / 24mm sway bars, strut tower brace, BFG KDW II tires. etc.
