That would be included in the "touring package" that has electric windows and carpeting and leather seats......i.e. more weight. Who need that crap?

it would be much easier to clean without carpeting! Leather seats would be better for cleaning when dripping the mustard or mayo.

I have a whole new appreciation for "lightness"....it is stunning what 190 hp can do with 1950 pounds of car. Not to mention the sound of the stage II exhaust pumping out 8200rpms.
I would never consider this if it was going to be my only ride. There are little to no creature comforts, the radio is crap (I've had it on twice---the music is better from what is behind my head), the air conditioner is laughable (doesn't get too hot in the UK remember), the seats hold you in, but there is about a quarter inch of padding, it is loud (combination wind noise, road noise and engine noise) because there is little to no sound insulation, and it can get warm in there if you're not going at speed (the engine is in back, but the radiator is up front and the heat can come right up over the windscreen into the cabin at less than 40mph and the coolant lines run up through the door sills making it quite warm down by the ankles and calves) and the suspension is quite firm, not to mention the absolute lack of storage space (you have room for about 2 good sized backpacks and that's it) and getting in and out is an art (especially for anyone over about 5'10" or big---and with the top on, it's comical even for me, and I'm 5'8" and 140lbs.)
In spite of all that, this is quite arguably the best purpose built driver's car available for the money. You sit about 6 inches off the ground and it feels unreal. You are so connected to this car....no power steering and you breathe on the wheel and the car turns......you run over a dime and can tell if it's heads or tails.....it grips like nothing I've ever felt.....and the stock brakes will have you doing the dash board taste test. I put so much time and money into the TT to get it where it was and this would run circles around it bone stock. It's not a torque factory.....it's a different kind of car...you gotta rev it to get it......but once you get it above 6200 and the cam switch happens, it's like you opened the gates of hell.
All I can say is that if anyone is considering one and you're not gonna use it as a daily driver, you MUST drive one, and I can guarantee that once you do, you'll never look at the TT the same way again......Don't get me wrong, the TT will always hold a special place in my heart, but, it's a totally different philosophy and type of car.....I can't go back.

Love it..."hit a dime and you can tell if it's heads or tails"..."and the stock brakes will have you doing the dash board taste test". Priceless! LOL!

Then maybe. But really the tentative plan for me is to keep my paultry 180 FWD because it has a build date of 7-1-98 (hoping it will be a collector later), and garage the car only to be driven on weekends and modify the **** out of the car with a larger turbo, then get a car along the lines of your Escort for a no-worry daily.
