Is a Haldex unit a haldex unit - 2000/2001 - 180/225
Are they all the same?
Does it matter if the one I want to get is from a 180 Quattro?
Or do I have to find one that is from the same as mine, a '01 TTQC 225?
TIA

Thanks, I had a tech
take a closer look, and after having it on the lift here is what we both think.
When on the lift the rears do not move. When turning by hand the axle makes no noise so we think that the axle itself is fine.
The drive shaft is turning, and the only thing in between is the haldex unit.
We are going to purchase a used haldex, switch out the unit as well as the race controller onto the new haldex unit, and install and hope.
Your thoughts?
Could it be just a fuse or something simpler than the whole haldex unit?
Or is that a good place to start knowing what we know?
TIA - TT'ers to the rescue

Did you run the function tests I sent you?
I would step through all those before I'd get to the replacement stage.
VAG readiness checks OK?
Sure you don't have a DOA controller? (there have been a few)

Re: Haldex functionality
Sorry if you've answered these questions previously, but I'd like to try to help.
Did you try the axle-turning test with the engine running? Have you tried lifting the car slightly off the ground and running it up to a low speed in first gear on the lift to see if the rear wheels engage? The haldex is designed to do absolutely nothing if the engine is not running above 300 rpm. I have read through a ton of factory tech literature in order to try to completely understand the unit, and it's really quite elegant. But it is designed to function only within specific parameters, so if they are not met, it will not work.

Actually what happened was
when I got that document, I had already picked up the car from the shop- he did state that he ran the vag test and the pumps in the haldex were working, also the haldex was communicating with the vag, I am guessing that is what lead him to think that the whole haldex is no good.

I am going to try to put the stock controller back in
and see what happens - hopefully this week. Thank you for the insight - very helpful and REALLY appreciated.
Thanks again.
